Hi, I’m Kelly, the founder of The Real Plant Moms.

If you had told me years ago that my love for plants would become my career, I never would have believed you.

Like many moms, I spent years pouring my heart into raising my children and taking care of my family. As my kids grew older and became more independent, I found myself entering a new chapter of life. I was proud of the people they were becoming, but I also realized it was time to rediscover what brought me joy. I wanted to create something meaningful—something that would not only fill my own heart but also bring happiness into the lives of others.

Around that time, I started collecting houseplants. What began as a few plants quickly grew into a passion. I became fascinated with learning everything I could about plant care, propagation, soil, and how to help plants truly thrive. Before I knew it, my home had become an indoor jungle, but more importantly, I discovered how much joy and peace plants could bring. They taught me patience, gave me a creative outlet, and reminded me to slow down and appreciate the little things.

During the pandemic, I wanted to share that feeling with others. I started The Real Plant Moms, an online plant community where people could ask questions, share plant tips, trade cuttings, and encourage one another. At a time when so many people felt disconnected, our little plant community became a place where friendships grew right alongside our plants. Seeing the impact it had on people made me realize this wasn’t just a hobby anymore—it was something I wanted to build into a business.

I’ve always loved entertaining, planning events, and anything creative, so I started dreaming about how I could combine those passions with plants. That’s when my Mobile Terrarium Workshop was born. I packed up everything I needed and began traveling to homes, wineries, businesses, markets, and private events, bringing unique, hands-on plant experiences directly to my guests. Watching people create something with their own hands while laughing, connecting, and making memories confirmed that I had found exactly what I was meant to do.

After a few amazing years on the road, I was able to turn that dream into something even bigger by opening my very own storefront.

Today, The Real Plant Moms is more than just a plant shop—it’s a creative space where plants and creativity come together. You can browse our collection of houseplants, shop unique pots and gifts, or roll up your sleeves at our DIY SOIL BAR, where you can create your own terrariums, kokedama, living moss art, painted pots, and other hands-on plant projects. Whether you’re a lifelong plant collector or bringing home your very first plant, everyone is welcome here.

Over the years, my business has continued to grow into so much more than I ever imagined. From Plant Bingo and private workshops to community events, corporate gatherings, and creative experiences, my goal has always remained the same: to create a place where people feel inspired, welcomed, and connected.

I truly believe plants have a way of bringing people together. They create conversations, encourage creativity, and remind us to slow down and enjoy life’s simple moments. My hope is that every person who visits my shop or attends one of my events leaves with more than just a plant or a project. I hope they leave with new memories, new confidence, a little more knowledge, and a whole lot of good vibes.
