I have always had a love and passion for plants, entertaining, party planning, and anything creative. I am a huge arts and crafts enthusiast, and entertaining is right up my alley. My journey with plants began at a young age, initially sparked by succulents. The unique beauty of succulents and the ability to create delightful arrangements with them became a great addition to my party planning endeavors. The creative possibilities with succulents seemed endless.
This initial fascination eventually evolved into a deep love for houseplants and propagation. I felt compelled to understand everything about houseplants - their soil, sunlight needs, and propagation techniques. I started with a few low-maintenance houseplants, and to my delight, I not only managed to keep them alive but also watched them thrive. Houseplants, I discovered, have a way of communicating their needs, from when they're thirsty to when they're ready for some nourishment.
When the pandemic struck, my passion reached new heights, and like many others, I went a bit overboard and acquired hundreds of houseplants. My home transformed into an indoor jungle. This enthusiasm quickly turned into an obsession, prompting me to start an Instagram page called "The Real Plant Moms of Brentwood." Some of my girlfriends joined in, and I decided to turn it into a public group where like-minded plant enthusiasts could share advice, tips, tricks, swap cuttings, and exchange plants. It became a fun, safe haven for all things plant-related, especially during these unusual times. I wanted to make people feel comfortable and reassure them that they weren't alone; plants have a unique way of making things better. They radiate positive vibes, something we all needed.
As our city began to open up and we could once again host small events, I initiated a community event called "Helping Each Other Grow." This platform allowed new makers and small business owners to promote their ventures within the community. We are fortunate to have a supportive and mutually promoting community, and I wanted to contribute to that spirit and inspire local makers and businesses to flourish.
Throughout this journey, I still wasn't entirely sure of my path, but I knew that my love for plants, entertaining, and helping people would lead me somewhere meaningful. Fast forward a few years, and my passion for plants and assisting people with party planning and entertainment has grown into something more than just a hobby. I felt the urge to take it to the next level and bring it directly to people's homes and events.
So, I blended all my passions—plants, party planning, and entertainment. Although I didn't have a clear direction, I knew I needed a small trailer. After acquiring one, I still lacked a concrete plan, but I was determined to combine my love for plants and entertainment. Initially, I considered a mobile plant shop to bring to homes or parties, allowing guests to shop for plants. However, I sensed it had to be more.
This is where my creative side came into play. Terrariums, I realized, are not only fun but also interactive and highly unique. Each one tells a different story. The idea struck me—why not have a mobile plant workshop that I could take anywhere, to any event or party, creating a one-of-a-kind plant vibe that no one else had done before? I wanted to offer the option of planting your own rooted houseplant or crafting your own custom do-it-yourself terrarium.
To add a special touch, I wanted my pop-up to resemble an actual store, fully staged to ensure a smooth flow for guests to come in, shop, and build their personalized terrarium or potted plant. I take pride in creating all my soil with the essential ingredients that plants need, which led to the concept of a soil bar, where guests can readily access soil for potting their rooted plants.
My goal was to create a genuine plant atmosphere, so my guests would always feel the plant love and vibe and leave with newfound plant knowledge and a sense of joy.
